Actor Simbu had signed the movie Maanaadu directed by Venkat Prabhu before two years, and the movie, which is produced by Suresh Kamatchi was supposed to begin shoot last year, began shooting earlier this year.

However due to the Coronavirus pandemic and the subsequent lockdown, shooting has been cancelled and in a recent interview, Venkat Prabhu had said that many sequences in Maanaadu require huge crowds and that the team is planning ways to shoot such scenes adhering to guidelines. However there has been a rumour making rounds that Maanaadu has been dropped.

Dismissing all these rumours, producer Suresh Kamatchi tweeted "If such a news comes hereafter i wl sue the concern media.I always respect media team and being close to thm. I never gave any statement like this.Without cross checking wth a producer hw can a reputed publication print a news? #Maanaadu never going to drop.Plz stop ur table work".
