Simbu and Dhanush like their seniors in Tamil cinema such as Rajini and Kamal and Vijay and Ajith are close friends in personal life but arch rivals in the movie business. There have been many instances when directors tried to cast them in the same film but nothing materialised.

Simbu has played a cameo role in 'Kaaka Muttai' that was jointly produced by Dhanush and Vetrimaaran. So far this is their only on screen collaboration. Now this could change as the latest buzz in Kollywood is that there is a high chance of Dhanush and Simbu sharing screen space in a mega project.

According to reports Simbu has been approached to play the role of Isaipuyal A.R. Rahman in the soon to begin Isiagniani Ilayaraja biopic starring Dhanush in the lead. The pan Indian film that will showcase the rise of India's greatest film music composer ever will be helmed by Balki. It is said that negotiations have already begun and there is a likelihood of Simbu giving his nod as he is a hardcore ARR fan and would love to portray him on screen. We have to take this with a pinch of salt as it is still a developing story and there is no official word yet.

Simbu is currently gearing up to start shooting for his next film 'STR 48' produced by Kamal Haasan and directed by Desingh Periyasamy. Dhanush on the other hand has completed his second directorial venture 'D 50' and will soon move on to 'D 51' directed by Sekhar Kammula and costarring Rashmika Mandanna and Nagarjuna. His 'Captain Miller' directed by Arun Matheswaran will be hitting the screens worldwide on Pongal 2024.
