Jallikattu has united young Tamilians like no other in recent times and scholars are already comparing this agitation to that of the anti - Hindi protests of 1965. What amazes everyone across the country is the emphasis on non-violence and the commendable restraint the young are following which should be a lesson to the future generation of this ancient culture.

Though the protests were already happening scattered across the state, it was Simbu who first initiated a peaceful protest right in front of his house on the 11th of January. Simbu, just a few months back was on the receiving end of flak for his controversial 'Beep' song which labeled him a chronic bad boy. But the same Simbu has sparked off a great movement in the fight for a noble cause and one can say that he has cleansed and redeemed himself and has emerged a real life hero.
