Actor Simbu was last seen on screen in the Sundar C directorial family entertainer Vandhaa rajavathaan Varuven which was the remake of a Telugu blockbuster. The Tamil version could not repeat the success of the original, and after the failure of the movie, Simbu had taken a break for focusing on his fitness.

He had been on a trip to London and returned back to India for his brother Kuralarasan's wedding, and the actor had lost an impressive 13 kgs in 37 days and was seen in a fit look. It was expected that the actor will be starting to shoot for his next, Maanaadu directed by Venkat Prabhu from June.

The latest update is that, Simbu has begun shooting for his next, which happens to be the Hansika starrer Mahaa directed by debutant UR Jameel, and the director himself had revealed the actor joining the sets on his social media handle. The movie happens to be Hansika's 50th, and Simbu will be seen playing an extended cameo, pairing with Hansika after Vaalu.
