Actor Silambarasan in his urgent press meet today sought the immediate release of Jallikattu protesters and fishermen, arrested by Chennai police on charges of indulging in violence.

The arrests happened when the police tried to disperse the protesters gathered in Chennai Marina on Monday last. Scores of fishermen from the nearby hamlets who came to support the protesters were also arrested for allegedly involving in violence.

Simbu announced that he will protest in democratic means if the people arrested are not released and dared the police to arrest him.

The 'Manmadhan' star also charged that government authorities and police failed to explain the provisions of the ordinance passed in favor of Jallikattu and they did not allow time and space for celebrating the victory of Jallikattu protesters.
