Silanerangalil
Popular Malayalam director Jayaraj will make his foray in Tamil cinema with Sila Nerangalil. He has rendered several blockbusters in Malayalam that include Desadanam, Kaliyattam, Santham and 4 Students. He has won the coveted national award four times. Sila Nerangalil is a thriller penned by R Raj.
Jayaraj says, "I wanted to make my debut in Tamil with a 'different' film. I came across the story of Sila Nerangalil and readily agreed to direct the movie".
This project is a result of coming together of four young software professionals from US, who have a passion for meaningful cinema. The story of the project was conceived R Raj, one among the four, and their search to give it life to it led them to Jayaraj.
Interestingly, Jayaraj has cast Vincent Ashokan, who played the villain in films such as Aye, Pokirri and Aalwar, as hero in Sila Nerangalil.
Jayaraj says, "I felt Vincent Ashokan, (son of yesteryear actor Ashokan), will suit the role well, hence I chose him. Navya's role isn't blind in the movie though it's a challenging role for her. Navya had no reservations in accepting a seemingly heavier role".
Navya says, "I consider myself fortunate to land in such roles with enormous scope to perform. A visually-challenged character had always interested me. Jayaraj has immense faith in my abilities and I will do my best to vindicate his decision. There is a lot to be gained from the experience".
After Chandramukhi, Vineeth gets to play a prominent role in Sila Nerangalil. Raghuvaran dons a different role and is sure to win the appreciation from film-buffs.
Srikanth Deva has scored music for the lyrics penned by Vairamuthu. Veteran playback singer P Suseela has sung a duet in the company of T M Soundarajan'a son TMS Paul Raj. Also a popular yesteryear number Pokiri Pokiri Raja Pothumae Thaja has been remixed for the movie. Jayaraj has shot a song in Japanese background. The lead pair (Vincent Ashokan and Navya) is clad in Japanese costumes. The song was shot exotic locations in Bangkok palace. Designer Chaitanya Rao has designed the outfits for the song wherein Vincent Ashokan appears as a Samurai warrior.
The movie is in its final post-production stages and expected to hit screens soon.
The other credits are cinematography by Rajvel, editing by Sreekar Prasad, art (Muthuraj), dialogues (Pattukottai Prabhakar), and lyrics (Vairamuthu ).
