SIIMA announces short film awards

SIIMA Awards has this year introduced a new category of awards. It's going to present the Best Short Film award, one each in the South Indian languages.
A Brinda Prasad, the Chairperson of SIIMA, says, "It's an initiative to bring out the talent of young filmmakers, who are set to change the dynamics of filmmaking with their fresh thoughts and techniques".

The likes of Tharun Bhaskcer, Ravikanth Perepu and Sankalp Reddy, the directors of 'Pelli Choopulu', 'Kshanam' and 'Ghazi', respectively have shown the potential of what some short film directors are capable of.
A jury will curate the short films produced in 2015 and 2016, uploaded on social media platforms and rate them based on the number of views and audience applause. The awards will be given away in the categories of Best Short Film, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress, Best Comedian and Best Music.
The event will be held in Hyderabad in the second week of May for Telugu and Kannada languages, whereas it's in Chennai for Tamil and Malayalam languages.
