Sidharth Malhotra is the embodiment of a middle class guy's dreams of making it big in the film industry coming true. Although he was launched with a commercially successful film by Karan Johar, Sidharth still has his fair share of struggles. He feels proud that he has achieved so much in an industry where nepotism and connections play a major role. In his initial days, he had to take up modelling to make ends meet.
Looking upon his struggles, Sidharth said, "It definitely gives you a sense of confidence in this regard. When someone who has come from nothing has a fear of what people will think of him. In the alien city, you might not have funds to survive or possibly not have enough work, you have pretty much seen a lot in your life and the industry. You kind of care less as opposed to people who have uncles and aunts here."
The actor further added he is not in the industry to please anyone. He said, "I am not here to make uncle, aunts, and rishtedaars. I have my own. It also helps in performance as I have lived such a regular life in my first 25 years that makes my characters look more real as opposed to people who have been bought up in that environment. There are massive advantages to it but yes, there is a lot of struggle that is involved. There’s a different ball game altogether behind the camera and every scene and those people who do come from a filmy background really struggle to adapt and learn. There are so many emotions and egos you have to deal with. It’s a tedious job dealing with all the politics."
