Sidharth Malhotra's upcoming war drama 'Shershaah' is all set to premiere on OTT giant Amazon Prime Video. Jointly produced by Dharma Productions and Kaash Entertainment, directed by Vishnu Vardhan, the film stars Sidharth and Kiara Advani in lead roles. The film is solely based on the life of Param Vir Chakra awardee and army captain Vikram Batra. A sneak-peek of this film was released on Thursday.
The one-minute video featured a couple of shots of Malhotra dressed in the army uniform as the Late Captain Vikram Batra, mixed with some real-life footage from the Kargil war, featuring Vikram Batra himself and media personality Barkha Dutt.
Announcing the release date Sidharth Malhotra wrote "Heroes live on through their stories. We are honoured to bring to you the true story of the Kargil War hero, Captain Vikram Batra (PVC). A film which has had a long journey for me and a real-life character I am proud to play." Sidharth's rumoured girlfriend Kiara Advani, who co-stars with him in the movie, shared the new release date with this post: "The extraordinary journey of bravery, sacrifice and valour like no other."
The film was slated to be released in July 2020 but was pushed to a later date due to the ongoing pandemic. Now the team opted for a digital release and fixed the date to be the 12th of August. This film marks the Hindi debut of famous Tamil director Vishnu Vardhan.
