The protest against Sterlite in Tuticorin by the people went on peacefully for 100 days before violence erupted and 13 cilvilians were killed in police sniper firing.  The much debated issue is still fresh in the people's minds and godman Sadguru Jaggi Vasudev has taken to social media to issue a pro-Sterlite statement "Am not an expert on copper smelting but I know India has immense use for copper. If we don't produce our own, of course we will buy from China. Ecological violations can be addressed legally. Lynching large businesses is economic suicide.-Sg".

Actor Siddharth has reacted strongly to Sadguru Jaggi Vasudev's statement "he CMO is a disgrace. The PMO doesn't have a tongue to talk unless it's yoga.This isn't the best time to list the benefits of copper smelting Sadhguru. Not now.Not yet. People were killed. By the police. Hold on. Shooting citizens is murder. Address the murder. Now.

It is worth mentioning that North India's famous godman and business tycoon Baba Ramdev has also supported Sterlite owner Anil Agarwal and blamed international conspirators to have instigated the people of Tuticorin to wrongly protest against the company.
