Shruti Haasan to play an assassin in American series

Shruti Haasan is back to focus on her music career and movies. What's more, she recently also made her television debut and hosted a TV chat show named Hello Sago.

Going forward, the actress has signed up to do an American series. Titled 'Treadstone', it is set in the Bourne series universe. The series will have her playing Nira Patel, a Delhi based waitress covering her other life of a trained assassin.

The spy thriller will be set against the backdrop of the CIA's tactics. It will be directed by Ramin Bahrani.
