Shruti Haasan: I have stayed true to director's vision in 'D-Day'

After playing subtle characters, Shruti Haasan plays a very intense role in director Nikhil AdvaniÂs forthcoming thriller ÂD-DayÂ, one of the most anticipated films in B-town. Having last seen in B-town in ÂDil Toh Baccha Hai JiÂ, the actress had been quite busy all these while with south projects; in Tamil as well as Telugu. IndiaGlitz caught the talented screen beauty and singer, speaking exclusively about her upcoming project, in spite of a sore throat.
In ÂD-Day Shruti is playing a girl from Pakistan, Karachi and she is a commercial sex worker. Talking more about her part in the film, the ÂLuck famed actress went on, It is a very integral character of the film; it forms as a catalyst to the whole love story. She is very beautiful character.
Her character is very layered, very complicated and one who has seen everything in life... She also said that itÂs a very intense character to play and ÂD-Day is going to be an interesting film for the audiences to watch.
Sharing details on how she bagged the film, Shruti revealed that director Nikhil Advani gave this movie after watching her in Â3Â in Tamil.
I think he liked it because he gave me three movies after that. And this (D-Day) is the one which I found interesting and challenging. My aim as an actor is to play as many different characters as possible and this was like other end of the spectrum.
Moving over to the director, Shruti said that Nikhil has been extremely passionate about the project. He has put everything into the film - his thought, time, energy; everything. So it translates on the screen, added the actress. Talking about getting involved in the project, Shruti stated that she stayed true to directorÂs mind.
Idea is to always go with the vision of the director... and added that she feels one has to make healthy suggestion but have to follow the director. You can contribute to film but not overstep it.
