Actor Shreyas Talpade is all set for the release of his biographical sports drama 'Kaun Pravin Tambe?' which is based on the journey of Pravin Tambe, a cricketer who represented Rajasthan Royals in Indian Premier League at the age of 41. This is second cricket based film for Shreyas who previously played a fast bowler in the film 'Iqbal'. In a recent media interaction, the actor opened about his experience of playing a sportsman in his 40s.
Shreyas told PTI, "The cricketing bits in the film were tough. When I did Iqbal, I was 30, which also isn’t young as per the cricketing age because people start early. Pravin started with medium pace bowling and at a particular time in his career, he switched to spin and he was a batsman as well. So, to get all of that, stamina, flexibility, his cricketing craft was tough."
In order to play the role convincingly, Shreyas worked with Tambe for three months to study his mannerisms. He says, "It was definitely challenging. I would have probably wanted myself to be at least 40 and not 47 to play that part. But as an actor, we have to challenge ourselves."
Shreyas concluded by sharing how he was inspired by Tambe's journey. He stated, “There were times when I used to complain of pain, back aches. When your body gets tired like that, recovery becomes an issue but then you think of what that man has achieved over 20 years and you just have to work for 50 days. It was tough but Pravin’s spirit kept me going."
'Kaun Pravin Tambe?' will release on 1st of April exclusively on Disney+ Hotstar.
