The biopic of badminton star Saina Nehwal starring Parineeti Chopra is nearing the release date. The trailer of the was released couple weeks ago and it has recieved mixed reviews. Many believed that the actress failed to create the charisma of the icon that Saina Nehwal is. Apparently, Parineeti wasn't the first choice for the part, she was a replacement for Shraddha Kapoor who might have been a better fit for the role. There have been lots of specualtions about the replacement but director Amol Gupte has finally decided to clear things up.
He said, "Shraddha was in full preparation, which is why we started shooting. She practiced hard to become Saina, and was doing good work. But she got dengue, and became frail after spending a month in bed. She kept asking me if she could try and return, and we kept pushing. But one day, she admitted that she was feeling too weak." He further added that he had to let Shraddha go to film 'Chhichhore' since the film couldn't be delayed anymore and after wrapping it up, Bhushan Kumar requested Amol to let Shraddha film 'Street Dancer 3D'.
So that's how Parineeti bagged the role and according to Amol, it was a smooth transition for all the parties involved.
