AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi today alleged that shots were fired at his vehicle after he campaigned in Meerut in Uttar Pradesh and was returning to Delhi. Nobody was injured.
Speaking to ANI, Owaisi recounted the firing incident. "I was leaving for Delhi after a poll event in Kithaur. About 3-4 rounds of bullets were fired upon my vehicle by two people. I got down and used another vehicle to reach Delhi," Owaisi said.
Republic TV reported that the Uttar Pradesh Police have confirmed that there were reports of altercation between two groups in the rally of held by Owaisi in Meerut. Since then, paramilitary forces have been deployed at the incident spot.
"It's necessary to know who has conspired to attack me. An independent probe should be held. A sitting MP was attacked at a toll plaza. God has saved me today," Owaisi said to a TV channel. He added that he will be writing a letter to the Election Commision, besides speaking to the Speaker of Lok Sabha about the incident.
