Sanjay Gupta is happy that in Anil Kapoor, John Abraham, Manoj Bajpayee and Tusshar Kapoor, he has managed to put together the kind of cast that would take his comeback film 'Shootout At Wadala' to a different level altogether. Now that's heartening news indeed for the filmmaker who had to go through quite some struggle before assembling his principal cast in place.

Smiles Gupta, "In fact Manoj Bajpayee was telling me that more than being a part of the film; he was excited to see a quintessential Sanjay Gupta film. That has helped me restore further confidence in myself."

What also helped his actors was the fact that in the last one year gone by, Sanjay spent good enough time in researching for the film so that the written material came out quite strongly.

"Yeah, a subject like this can't be handled without adequate research," Gupta agrees, "When the idea was narrated to me, I did my own due diligence and research. However I realised that my sources were just a tip of iceberg. After all, the film is not just about who dies and how he dies. There is a kamaal ki back story as well. This is when I got Zaidi on board. He is an encyclopaedia on these shoot outs."

This is something that enticed Anil Kapoor (who plays the role of a cop) as well who was thrilled to play a real life character. "It is a drastic transformation for Anil too since this is the first time that he is playing a serious cop. Otherwise he has always played a crooked or a funny cop. It is definitely going to be a tall order for him," smiles Gupta.

With Sonu Sood, Kangana Ranaut and Mahesh Manjrekar featuring in key roles as well, ‘Shootout At Wadala’ is all set for release on 7th December.
