A mythological social-comedy is being made in Telugu. It's titled 'Shoorpanakha'. Writer-director Bhargava of 'Kittu' fame (for starters, 'Kittu' received a National Film Award as the first Telugu Animation Film) is helming the flick.
As the title suggests, Shoorpanakha from the epic Ramayana is the movie's central character. "The film is a fiction. What would happen if Shoorpanakha comes to the contemporary world? Why would she came and what she would do forms the crux of the film. The epic is being retold from her point of view. How she would compare the then Lanka with the contemporary society and her people with the present generation is revealed in an enthralling and exhilarating way," the director says.
A noted actress will be playing the role of Shoorpanakha. VFX will be the film's highpoint. To be shot from May, the film has story, screenplay and dialogues by the director himself. It's produced by Bhargava and DR Reddy of Bhargava Pictures and CR Productions.
