Telangana Health Minister Eatala Rajender has stated that two medical professionals in the State have been reinfected with COVID-19. Reinfections are pretty much rare.
It has been believed that the immune system mounts a defence against coronavirus once a person has been infected and has developed antibodies. Therefore, two individuals getting the reinfection is somewhat of a headache, it seems.
"There is no guarantee that one will not get the infection for the second time after recovery. If an individual doesn't develop adequate antibodies, he or she may face the risk of getting affected again," the Health Minister has said.
Earlier this week, cases of reinfections have been reported in Hong Kong, Belgium and the Netherlands.
Meanwhile, the KCR government has said that the health authorities have received 2000 complaints against private hospitals so far. As many as 200 complaints pertain to overcharging and discrepancies in medical billing. "We have sent showcause notices to them all," authorities have said.
