Bing Lu, a 37-year-old Pittsburgh University researcher, has been found dead in USA's Pennsylvania. What makes this incident a sensational one is that Lu was "on the verge of a coronavirus discovery".
"Lu was nearing findings on the SARS-CoV-2 infection and the cellular basis of the complications,” the University of Pittsburgh has been quoted as saying by an American daily.
The person who shot Lu dead was later found dead a few yards afar. As per the police, they had had a fight over a partner. So, police records say that it was a case of personal rivalry. However, skeptics are of the view that it's a case of assassination.
Many Netizens have commented on social media platforms that Lu had perhaps found out that Covid-19's origin happened in an American lab. "Oh my god. This seems like coming straight out of Mission Impossible. Perhaps he found out that the virus originated from an American lab," a social media user wrote.
As per others, it's equally possible that the Chinese regime may have played a role in his murder. China's track record on dealing with coronavirus researchers/professors has been scary.
In the absence of any evidence, everything is a conspiracy theory at the moment.
