Dr Shivarajakumar is joining the protest of Kalasa Banduri` project and supporting the farmers of the Karnataka state. Shivarajakumar is reaching Hubli on September 13 and speaking to the protestors who are for a good cause. A few days ago Kichcha Sudeep extended support to this Kalasa Banduri` project. The Kalasa-Banduri Project, proposed by the Karnataka government, aims to divert the water from Kalasa nala` (Canal) and Banduri nala` in Mahadayi basin to the Malaprabha River for meeting the drinking water requirement of Hubli-Dharwad. The Mahadayi Water Dispute Tribunal has rejected the Goa government's plea to stop work on the Kalasa-Banduri Project. It has ordered Karnataka to plug the vents so as to avoid the automatic flow of flood water from Mahadayi to Malaprabha, thus satisfying both parties.
On September 4th Karnataka Film Directors Association on Friday extended their support to the ongoing farmers agitation over the sharing of Mahadayi waters and the Kalasa Banduri Nala Project. They took out a protest march and also visited Navalgund to express their solidarity with the farmers.
