Filmmaker Shirish Kunder who helmed movies like 'Jaan-E-Mann' and 'Joker' was recently praised for his new short film 'Kriti'. This short film featured Radhika Apte, Manoj Bajpayee and Neha Sharma in the lead. But seems like, this short film has been removed from You Tube after Shirish Kunder was blamed over copyright. Sources say that, Shirish Kunder has been accused of plagiarism by Nepali filmmaker Aneel Neupane, who has proof that the plot of Kriti` has been copied from his own short film titled 'BOB' that released seven months ago. After winning over 2.5 million hearts Kriti had been taken down.
It was just two days after 'Kriti' hitting YouTube on June 22, Aneel Neupane claimed that Mr Kunder stole the plot of his short film 'BOB'. He took to Facebook and wrote saying: "Initially, I thought maybe the first few frames, the setting and characters resembled BOB. I thought it was just a co-incidence. I was actually excited to watch a short film starring Mr Manoj Bajpayee (A great actor whom I admire a lot!) and Neha Sharma (whom I've had a HUGE crush on ever since I saw her in the movie Crook). As the movie progressed, I was shocked to find so much similarities."
After this post becoming viral, media reports say that Kunder had sent Neupane a legal notice demanding apology and has asked him to refrain from making any oral or written comments on 'Kriti'. It was also stated that it was Neupane who was guilty of plagiarism and demanded that 'BOB' to be taken offline immediately. While, Shirish Kunder told media that these allegations are technically and logically baseless. However, Neupane confirmed saying that BOB` was ready in October 2015 and that he uploaded it on Vimeo as a private video to share it with close friends before releasing it on YouTube on May 12.
Those who seek Kriti will find it removed. @ShirishKunder #KritiStoleBOB
