Earlier this week, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray reportedly termed Pathri in Parbhani as Shirdi Sai Baba's birthplace. Following his comments Saibaba Sansthan Trust has called for the indefinite closure of Shirdi.

As reported by a news agency, the Trust has announced the closure of Shirdi against rumours, from January 19. The Trust plans for a meeting of villagers Saturday evening to discuss the issue.

The decision is a protest against the Maha CM's announcement to allot Rs 100 Cr for the development of Pathri in Parbhani.

Despite the closure, devotees will not face any difficulty if they come to Shirdi, the Trust has been quoted as saying.
