Conforming reports about actress Shilpa Shetty having filed a petition in the court today, her spokesperson Dale Bhagwagar said, "Shilpa has put in a plea in the Supreme Court seeking transfer of cases (relating to the Richard Gere incident) to the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court at Mumbai".

However, Bhagwagar reiterated, "Shilpa has not received any summons regarding these cases filed by certain local lawyers form different parts of the country. She has learnt about them through media reports."

The petition argued by Shilpa's counsel Anand Grover also requests the Supreme Court to stay proceedings against her and grant her exemption from personal appearance when the cases are transferred.

In relation to the said incident, private criminal complaints came to be filed in the Magistrates' court at Jaipur and Mundawar in Rajasthan and at Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh, primarily on the issue of the said incident being telecast.
