Three-time Chief Minister of New Delhi and senior Congress leader Sheila Dikshit is no more. The once-popular leader breathed her last on Saturday afternoon at a private hospital. She was 81.
She played a crucial role in preventing her party from allying with the AAP in the recent Lok Sabha elections. She lost against BJP's Manoj Tiwari by a huge margin.
Mourning Sheila's demise, President Ramnath Kovind said, "Sad to hear of the passing of Smt Sheila Dikshit, former Chief Minister of Delhi and a senior political figure. Her term in office was a period of momentous transformation for the capital for which she will be remembered. Condolences to her family and associates."
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, "Deeply saddened by the demise of Sheila Dikshit Ji. Blessed with a warm and affable personality, she made a noteworthy contribution to Delhi’s development. Condolences to her family and supporters. Om Shanti."
