Shefali Shah talks about the turning point of her career

Seasoned actress Shefali Shah recently opened about film industry's mistreatment of female actors after a certain age. She pointed out how the writers and filmmakers used women just as plot devices and wrote there characters very shoddily and women were supposed to play characters older than themselves. Sixteen year old actresses had to portray twenty five year old women while women in their twenties often had to play roles of mothers or such.

However, Shefali Shah acknowledged that things have changed in recent years after the emergence of OTT platforms. She told News18, "OTT opened up that horizon with age appropriate roles, where a heroine didn't have an expiry date. Otherwise there was an 18-22 window of age. After that they didn't know what to do with the women. They either became accessories or were just a wall in the background. I've been working since I was 16. But my professional life changed by the time I reached my 40s. In fact it changed in the last two years after Delhi Crime."

Shefali played a tough and competent cop, DCP Vartika Chaturvedi in the critically acclaimed show 'Delhi Crime' and she believes that it has changed her career significantly. She said, "Delhi Crime is easily the turning point of my life, my career. It's been my learning curve. It has really changed things for me, even as a person. Just all of it together."
