For a long time, Indian society has been ignorant towards how sexism has been normalised in our daily lives and Bollywood has also reflected the same. However, things are gradually changing as several actors and filmmakers have started challenging such issues with their work. Actress Shefali Shah, who made a name for herself with sheer hard work and talent, recently talked the issue of ingrained sexism in our society.
In a recent conversation with Barkha Dutt, Shefali stated, "It’s been years of conditioning, that a woman stays at home and looks after the house. She does the household chores, the husband goes out and works.”
Citing an example from her own life, the actress said, "You know, when I am at home and haven’t gone to work, nobody asks me ‘why haven’t you gone to work?’ but he (her husband Vipul Amrutlal Shah), I will ask, ‘why are you not going office today?'”
On the work front, Shefali and Vidya Balan are currently busy promoting their film 'Jalsa' which was released couple days back.
