Deepak Pandey, who has helmed "Shaurya" - a web series on the Indian Army and police - says he never wanted a fantasy story, so his team spent time with family members, friends and colleagues of officers of Maharashtra.

"After producing the first two seasons of 'Fear Files', we wanted a topic which was not very common. We selected defence, and decided to bring the personal life of defence people including policemen and army officers," Pandey said in a statement.

"They are wonderful souls. With their professional commitment, the way they handle their personal responsibilities is amazing. We decided to work on the story of defence people of Maharashtra," he added.

The series shown on video-on-demand service SonyLIV stars Shreyas Talpade, Gaurav Ghatnekar and Raqesh Bapat.

"I never wanted a fantasy story so, my team has done good homework by talking and spending time with family members, friends and even colleagues of those officers of Maharashtra so that they can add reality to the series," said Pandey.

Pandey and Falguni Shah co-own Dreamzz Images that is producing "Shaurya".

Shah said: "'Shaurya' narrates the stories of real-life heroes like Major Atul Garje, Colonel Santosh Mahadik and ACP Ashok Kamte who sacrificed their lives for the nation."
