Justice Sharad Arvind Bobde is going to be the next Chief Justice of India. He will be sworn in on November 18. Formerly the Chief Justice of the Madhya Pradesh High Court, Bobde's term will end on 23 April 2021.
The current Chief Justice, Ranjan Gogoi will retire on November 17. His term will end on a high note, as it's the Constitution Bench led by him that will deliver the Ayodhya verdict. The verdict, which is most-awaited, is expected to come on either November 14 or 15 or 16.
As for the new Chief Justice, he has been a part of the Ayodhya dispute. In the past, he was associated with the BCCI case as well. Since he is a Maharashtrian, a few Maha politicians have expressed their pride over the appointment.
