Shankaranum Mohanum

Though some of his films like 'Ponthenmada' and 'Dany' had a good commercial run and some of his films even used songs in their narratives, T V Chandran was never regarded as a filmmaker whose movies hold any kind of commercial prospectus. Now in his 14th film ,' Sankaranum Mohananum,' TV chandran is making his first attempt to prove successful as  a full fledged commercial director. The movie with Jayasuirya as the hero will have the lead actor in a full length double role and also songs and sequences that match the sensibilities of the regular film going masses.

The movie have Jayasuriya in a double role as brothers, Sankaran and Mohanakrishnan, who has more than a ten years difference in age. Mohanakrishnan is  a fashion photographer currently living in Kochi. Though immensely successful in his profession, he had just relocated from Mumbai following his separation from his wife, Jyotsna Mathew (played by Rima Kallingal) and his only child.

His only  brother, Sankaran (also played by Jayasuriya), was a school teacher in Malabar, who got  married in his forties to a much younger woman named Rajalakshmi (played by Meera Nandan). But Sankaran had a rather sad death on the very next day after the wedding, due to a snake bite.

On his return to his own village, Mohankrishnan is now followed by the ghost of Sankaran who keeps on haunting him. In the entire movie , the ghost of Shankaran appears before Mohanakrishnan in different getup's and as people around. The movie which travels through the mind of Mohanakrishnan also explores Shankaran's undying love for his wife and lack of love towards his brother.

T V Chandran who is going for a complex mind game in this satire, is also adding a little  autobiographical element to the story as he has a similar experiences in the memories of his own brother, who died in Nigeria almost 30 years ago, which still haunt him.

The surreal scripts of 'Sankaranum Mohananum' will offer the best of the roles for Jayasuriya, an actor who loves to experiment, to prove himself as an actor of calibre. A rather difficult role which will need him to change the shoes of both the characters at regular intervals, the movie may bring him to acclaims of national level, if performed well. Meera Nandhan appears as a village girl, who marries an man 20 years older than her.

TV Chandran, the director of critically-acclaimed films such as `Ponthanmada,' `Ormakalundaayirikkanam,' `Mankamma,' `Susanna,' `Danny,' and `Padam Onnu: Oru Vilaapam,' will use the music tracks of the year's national award winner Isaac Thomas Kottukappilly and Mohan Sithara for the film which is cinematographed by Pradeep Nair.

`Sankaranum Mohananum'  jointly produced by Prem Prakash's Prakash Movie tone and Raju Mallyath's Ragam Movies, will get to theatres by next month.
