Director Shankar, known for his grand canvas and visual feasts had last delivered a humongous blockbuster in the form of the Superstar Rajnikanth starrer 2.0, the sequel to their 2010 flick Endhiran, and the movie has been running successfully even after the arrival of the Christmas releases.

Following this success, Shankar is expected to begin shooting of his next, the Ulaga Nayagan Kamal Haasan starrer Indian 2, which is the sequel to their 1996 blockbuster that won the actor a national award. This sequel, which will have the actor back as the vigilante hero also stars Kajal Aggarwal and is said to begin shoot on January 18.

On the other hand, speculations are running rife that Shankar is planning to join hands with Bollywood hero Hrithik Roshan, for his next film post Indian 2, which is touted to be a sci-fi thriller. Earlier, Shankar had planned to rope in Hrithik for 2.0 as well, but the role went to Akshay Kumar finally. It is to be seen if Hrithik will give his nod for Shankar, after completing his ongoing projects Super 30, Krrish 4 and an untitled Yashraj films movie costarring Tiger Shroff.
