Earlier today, Kollywood producer Aascar Ravichandran sent a legal notice to director Shankar, saying that he will be dragged to the court if he goes ahead with remaking 'Anniyan' ('Aparichitudu') in Hindi. In the notice, Ravichandran claimed that the rights of the story are with him. He said that he had bought the rights from late writer Sujatha.
In his latest statement, the '2.0' director said that he was shocked on receiving the notice from Ravichandran. The 'Indian 2' director claimed that the story of 'Anniyan' was written by him and not by Sujatha. "The film's titles credit me for writing the story, screenplay," he said.
Shankar added that late Sujatha was only the film's dialogue-writer and had no role to play in writing the story and screenplay.
"The script vests with me. I have all the rights to exploit it as I deem fit," Shankar firmly states in the letter.
Shankar adds that the producer had made profits on 'Anniyan' and is unjustly trying to benefit from his future endeavours as well.
