The Chennai police had recently sent summons to many with regards to the tragic accident on the sets of 'Indian 2' at Chennai's EVP Film City. On Thursday, it was the turn of director Shankar to appear in person in front of the police. His statement was recorded from 11 am to 2 pm. A visibly shaken Shankar has released an official letter in which he has shared his profound grief for the lives lost.
Shankar says in the letter that it is unfortunate that the accident occurred in spite of all precautionary measures taken by him and his team. Getting emotional, he adds that more than being relieved that he escaped miraculously, his heart is grieving over the lost lives.
Regarding his assistant director Krishna, one of the three deceased, the ace director praises him for being a focussed worker who within a month of joining him, won his confidence in handling such a big project.
Shankar announces that he is giving monetary relief of rupees one crore to the families of the deceased, pointing out that though it will not bring them back to life, at least it could give them some economical relief.
