'Imsai Arasan 23am Pulikesi' is a path breaking film for many reasons. It's success proved that Vadivelu, the much loved comedian can pull of the lead role with ease. it proved that historical subjects can be given with a touch of comedy. The film marked the debut of director Chimbu Devan, who went on to do many such experimental historical/fantasy films.

A sequel for the much adored 'Pulikesi' has been on the cards for a long time. There were reports doing rounds that the sequel will be directed by Chimbu Devan with Vadivelu in the lead and it will be produced by Shankar in association with Lyca Productions, which is currently involved in the production of Shankar's directorial project '2.0' with Superstar Rajinikanth.

But there has been no official word about the project and fans have been waiting for a long time to watch Pulikesi in the big screens again.

Now it seems the long wait is getting closer to the end as the official confirmation about the sequel has come from the man who produced the film under his S Pictures banner.

Shankar has just now tweeted that today is the 11th year of 'Imsai Arasan 23am Pulikesi', (the film released on July 8, 2006) and the part 2 will start soon.

That's a great news for movie buffs to celebrate this weekend as we can expect and official announcement on the commencement of the project very soon.
