Director Mysskin celebrated director Shankar's twenty-fifth year in Kollywood in a private function held at his home where contemporaries such as Mani Ratnam, Mohan Raja, Linguswamy, Balaji Shaktivel, Gautam Menon, Pa. Ranjith, Atlee, and others converged. We caught up with the 'Thupparivaalan' creator over a phone interview in which he has revealed how this unique tribute to Tamil cinema's prideful filmmaker happened.
According to Mysskin he and Linguswamy wanted to make 'Shankar 25' a memorable event and then they decided to call in other directors and around fifteen of them participated. The function started at 8 in the evening and went on till around 5 in the morning and after cake cutting speeches were made by Mani Ratnam and others who paid rich tribute to Shankar.
A controversy surrounding 'Shankar 25' is that A.R. Murugadoss, one of the biggest directors in Tamil cinema did not participate. According to Mysskin it was because they of the function was held at his house and only those directors who are very close to him were invited.
