The ongoing row over the temporary ban on actors Shane Nigam and Sreenath Bhasi by Kerala film bodies following repeated complaints of alleged bad behavior on sets has taken a new turn. Recently, the details of a controversial letter written by Shane Nigam for his upcoming movie âRDXâ producer Sophia Paul have emerged in social media, further complicating the matter.
In the letter, Nigam expressed concern about his character not being given enough prominence in the movie âRDX,â in which he plays the lead role along with two other supporting co-stars, namely Antony Pepe alias Antony Varghese and Neeraj Madhav. As per the allegations in the letter, Nigamâs character was not given importance as promised in the agreement, and he demanded that his character should be the lead in marketing and branding. He should be prominent in teasers and posters.
Meanwhile, the office bearers of the producersâ associations have stated that they will not cooperate with actors who refrain from signing agreements with producers. This decision was made at a joint meeting convened by the Film Employees Federation of Kerala (FEFKA), Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes (AMMA), and Kerala Film Producers Association (KFPA).
The situation has been further complicated by serious complaints levelled against Sreenath Bhasi too. Producers have accused him of giving the same dates to many movies, not arriving on sets on time, not answering calls, and not having a clear idea of the projects he has committed to so far. The ongoing ban and the allegations levelled against the actors have brought the spotlight back on the often-complicated relationships between actors and producers in the film industry. The situation remains fluid, and it remains to be seen how it will be resolved.
