Vijay Sethupathi has enjoyed a phenomenal career rise over the past few years and continues to rule the roost as the most sought-after actor not only in Tamil cinema but also in pan-Indian. He has several films on hand including 'Master', 'Upenna', 'Laabam', 'Lal Singh Chaddha', 'Kadaisi Vivasayi', 'Yaadhum Oore Yaavarum Kelir', 'Tuglaq Durbar' and 'Kaathu Vaakula Rendu Kadhal'.

On Tuesday a new movie '800' was officially announced in which Vijay Sethupathi will be donning the role of legendary Sri Lankan cricketer Muttiah Muralidharan in his biopic. A motion poster and first look posters that were released has wowed viewers with the perfect match of VJS in his character of Murali.

However Vijay Sethupathi is facing severe backlash on social media for accepting to play the role of Murali as the latter is seen as an enemy of the Sri Lankan Tamils due to his support to Mahinda Rajapakshe.

The Sri Lankan Tamils have not taken it lightly that Muralidharan denied there was mass genocide during the decimation of the LTTE a few years back. Social media users have created a hashtag #ShameonVijaySethupathi which is trending.

Vijay Sethupathi has already stated in his interviews that people should not judge '800' and the message it is going to deliver before watching the film. He has however not commented yet on the opposition he is receiving once again for this biopic.
