 The NTR-Ileana starrer `Shakti' is all set to hit the screens on April 1. The producer of the film Aswinidutt spent a fortune on the picturisation of the film and it has become a prestigious film for Vyjayanti banner on the lines of `Jagadeka Veerudu Atiloka Sundari' few years ago. The film was shot in the highest number of locations than any other film and there were high expectations among the audiences in general and NTR fans in particular. However, the Young Tiger and A1 Star NTR made an appeal to everyone to watch the film with an open mind without any expectations and the entire crew of the film kept their entire might (Shakti) for making this `Shakti'. Though the audio evoked mixed response in the beginning, you will definitely like the music, after listening to them for three or four times. Thaliya Thaliya Artist: Ranjith This number appears to be the introduction song of the hero and the music by Manisharma indicates that the song was composed to give scope to showcase the dancing skills of the hero to woo the front-benchers. Even the lyricist mentions that the hero kept his eyes on them. As the film is said to have Shakti Peethams backdrop, most of the film was shot in north India and we should understand that the lyricist had mixed Hindi words to give a native feeling. The tune was foot-tapping and definitely make the NTR fans to dance soon after the song flashed on the screen. However, the music in the song reminds us of some old tunes. Prema Desam Artistes: Hemachandra, Saindhavi Manisharma is known as `Melody Brahma' and this duet tuned by the music director did justice to his title and gave an excellent melodious tune to this duet between the hero and heroine. The song goes in a slow-pace and Ramajogayya Sastry was so careful and used complete Telugu words and showed his literary skills in the lyric. The literary values of the song were high. Use of violin and flute with a touch of key board kept the song on a high pedestal in terms of melody. Mathileka Pichiga Artistes: Ranjith, Chinmayee After giving a soft and slow song, Manisharma jumped to a fast-paced duet this time and the husky voice of Chinamayee gave a western feel in the song. The music director used bass guitar with drumbeat before the first stanza and the tune would definitely appease the class audiences in the `B' class centres because of the female singer's voice. Before the second stanza, he chose typical drumbeat and some foreign sounds in the backdrop. As a whole the song could be enjoyed the class audiences and foot-tapping. Maha Rudra Shakti Artistes: Ranjith, Muralidhar, Rita, Vardhini, Saindhavi, Hanumantha Rao, Hemachandra, Malavika This number gives the real feel that the film is a socio-fantasy film. The entire lyric penned by Jonnavittula devoted to praise the Lord Siva and the Shakti Peethams. The take of the song itself indicates that the hero is praising the Lord pleading him to give him the power. The entire song had some kind of thematic importance. The music follows the singer's voice and appears to be a padyam (poem) and not a song. Manisharma composed the tune with a perfect tempo and gave twists to suit the singers' voice. Surro Surra Artistes: Javed Ali, Suchitra This is a very lengthy song that lasts for more than five and half minutes. The song was tuned in folk style and Suchitra's voice gave life to it. The chorus given by others pepped up the feel in the film. Javed Ali too helped to boost the value of the song. Above all, Manisharma gave typical beat and made different sounds with the help of musical instruments and as a whole elevated the song to a higher level. Listen to the song once again to enjoy it personally. Once again the song proved that the Telugu film industry is not dearth of good lyricists. Hats off to Ramajogayya Sastry for his fantastic lyric and Manisharma for excellent tune. Yamaga Unde Artistes: Karunya, Malavika This is old fashioned mass masala number and the director made the use of musical instruments of his choice and the singers just followed the tune given by the music director and the song appeared to have aimed at mass audiences and was a routine commercial formula song with lots of drum beats and guitar sounds besides the key board. Not so attractive but the tune make the audiences to just tap their feet. Mahishasura Mardhini Artistes: Srivardhini, Sharath There is nothing to talk about the lyric as it was penned to praise the Goddess Durga some ages ago. However, the music director tuned the song to suit the present generation in a different style and it is excellent as everyone including the old and young could enjoy the old and devotional song and the musical treat given to it in a novel manner. |
