There are very few biopics made on film stars in India and item number icon Silk Smitha is one of the rare personalities who was portrayed on screen by an A-List actress Vidya Balan in 'Dirty Picture'.  Adult star Shakeela is the next in line to get a biopic to be directed by Indrajith Lankesh.

The film which stars Richa Chadha as Shakeela will portray the life of the actress from when she was 16 years old and expose the trails and tribulations that she faced on her way to becoming the most popular South Indian adult star ever. Shooting is set to begin in April and an early 2019 release is planned.

During the nineties Shakeela's films mostly made in Malayalam and dubbed into many Indian and foreign languages.  She were so popular in Kerala that superstars Mammootty and Mohanlal films took a beating at the box office against her soft porn.
