There were always very dim chances of 'Shakal Pe Mat Ja' managing a good start for itself at the box office and the outcome was no different once the film hit the screens over the weekend gone by. Even though the film managed a fair release and decent show timings for itself, audience interest was clearly missing which reflected in the footfalls that the film managed. With a mere 10% occupancy for itself, the film was a commercial failure on it's very first day, hence adding on to the pile of small films that have released this year.

Even though the film was a decent fare, majority of critics were unkind to the film while ripping it apart in the reviews. For the young team behind the film, it was a rude shock no less to see such scathing remarks being made for the film. This further meant that the film lost out on whatever little benefit that it could have gained out of good reviews since word of mouth was anyways negligible. Since there wasn't much positive feedback shared, all hopes were lost for this comedy which has now gone totally unnoticed at the box office.
