Back in 2016, Shahrukh Khan tried something out of the box with his film 'Fan'. In this film based around a fan's obsession with a film star, Shahrukh played dual roles. He managed to impress with his phenomenal acting but the film failed to make a mark as a whole. The film wasn't a huge commercial success either as it only managed to break even at the box office. Now five years after the initial release, the film has lost yet another sum of 15k rupees.
A teacher named Afreen Fatima Zaidi filed a lawsuit against the makers because she was disappointed that the film didn't include the song 'Jabra Fan' while it was used to promote the film. The report was filed in 2016 and the Supreme Court has finally announced their verdict now. A two judge bench slammed filmmakers for using deceptive promo material and instructed YRF to pay a sum of 15k rupees to Afreen Fatima Zaidi.
The top court said, "The problem is that you (production house) show something else in the trailer which is not there in the movie. When the trailer is released, it is a trailer of the movie. Why were you marketing your movie with the song when you knew it was meant to be for the promotion of the film?”
