Actor Shahid Kapoor is quite excited about making his OTT debut with a web show directed by Raj and DK. The project also stars Tamil superstar Vijay Sethupathi and it's been making headlines ever since its announcement. However, recently the project came into limelight again but for all the wrong reasons. The show titled 'Sunny' has gone on floors and it has been accused of disrespecting Mahatma Gandhi while filming.
Apparently, the team of 'Sunny' used fake Indian currency for a scene and after the filming they left the fake notes to be trampled on by pedestrians. Since the notes contained a photo of Mahatma Gandhi, this incident has agitated some people. Former Shiv Sena corporator Kiran Chendvankar raised the issue and said, "After the accident [scene], a huge amount of duplicate notes got scattered on the road in Madhuban. The notes are duplicate and issued by Children Bank of India, but the portrait of Mahatma Gandhi on them is original. The notes are scattered everywhere and people are forced to walk on them. It is utter disrespect to the father of the nation, whose birthday we celebrated just a few days ago."
When the makers of 'Sunny' were approached by Mid Day to comment on the issue, they stated, "We have shot this series with all due permissions and guidelines in place. We have a dedicated team that ensures no fake notes are left behind after each scene. We have the utmost respect for…Mahatma Gandhi and have absolutely no intention of disrespecting him."
