Shahid Afridi, the former Pakistani cricketer, is considered a legend in the field. The iconic sportsperson on Saturday said that he has contracted Coronavirus.
"I’ve been feeling unwell since Thursday; my body had been aching badly. I’ve been tested and unfortunately I’m covid positive. Need prayers for a speedy recovery, InshaAllah," Afridi announced on Twitter.
It's not clear how he contracted Covid-19. Chances are that he did so because he widely participated in relief activities.
Afridi is not the first Pakistani sportsperson to contract coronavirus. "At least two Pakistani first-class players have died from the infection with leg-spinner Riaz Sheikh passing away in Karachi earlier this month," says Hindustan Times in its report.
Soon after Afridi posted the update, thousands of his fans started wishing for his recovery on social media.
