Shah Rukh Khan's upcoming film, "Jawan," is rewriting box office records even before its release, gaining remarkable traction in overseas markets, particularly the United States. The film has already amassed over Rs 1 crore ($151,187) in advance ticket sales for its US release, scheduled for September 7. Trade analyst Manobala Vijayabalan reported the impressive numbers: "Advance sales - $151,187; Locations – 367; Shows – 1607; Tickets – 9691."
Breaking conventions, "Jawan" opened advance bookings almost three weeks before its release, a strategic move due to Shah Rukh Khan's immense popularity in markets like the US, UK, and Middle East. Directed by Atlee, the film marks Nayanthara's Hindi debut and features Vijay Sethupathi as the antagonist, backed by Anirudh's music.
Given Atlee's sway in Tamil Nadu and the film's star-studded cast, including Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi, "Jawan" is anticipated to resonate strongly in the southern markets and make a significant impact with dubbed versions. In fact, some predict a Rs 100-crore ($13.5 million) opening day for the film, creating history for Shah Rukh Khan as he aims for another blockbuster opening day.
With around 10,000 tickets already sold in the US, the buzz around "Jawan" is on the rise. These sales are only for the film's Hindi version, with approximately 2,668 tickets sold for IMAX screenings. The film's buzz has led to expectations of an even bigger success when it hits screens in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu versions across the globe.
