Shaadi No.1
Infidelity is a subject that could fit into any genre depending on the way it is treated. So one side, there could be a dramatic 'Arth' by Mahesh Bhatt, while on the other there could be comedies like 'Masti' or 'No Entry' talking about the same subject in a different manner. In parallel, there could be erotic thrillers like 'Murder', 'Jism' or 'Zeher' while on the other hand there could also be a light hearted entertainers like 'Main Meri Patni Aur Woh' [starring Rajpal Yadav and about to be released soon].
A movie based on the same subject 'Shaadi No. 1' comes up this festive season and as the name implies, it is a David Dhawan directed venture. Icing on the cake is director's reunion with Vashu Bhagnani, in partnership with whom he has delivered numerous No. 1 hits like Coolie No. 1, Hero No. and Biwi No. 1. While Dhawan has emerged out of his lean patch with back to back successes of Mujhse Shaadi Karogi and Maine Pyaar Kyon Kiya, Vashu Bhagnani would be hoping that he too strikes gold after back to back no-shows of Vaada and Silsiilay this year. With a starcast of Sanjay Dutt, Fardeen Khan, Zayed Khan, Sharman Joshi, Ayesha Takia, Esha Deol, Soha Ali Khan, Ria Sen, Sophie and Aarti Chabbria and music by Anu Malik, that seems quite probable too.
The story is simple. Raj [Fardeen Khan], Veer [Zayed Khan] and Aryan [Sharman Joshi] are three friends who are married, successful but want much more in life. They have beautiful wives like Bhavna [Ayesha Takia], Diya [Esha Deol] and Sonia [Soha Ali Khan] at home but they are still not content. They constantly crib and their 'dil' always 'maange more'!
Why? Because though they are young, smart and have a reason ready to have a passionate time [read nights] with their wives at home, the ladies of the house have a different thing in mind. While Ayesha worships God more than her husband and spends her time in prayers, Diya is a wannabe actress who is forever on lookout for a movie role and Sonia wants justice for her female counterparts.
Rejected and dejected, with age on their side, the men hunt for greener pastures and come across three bombshells - Sophie Chowdhary, Ria Sen and Aarti Chabbaria, who are named after screen goddesses Dimple, Madhuri and Rekha respectively! Happier and even more content, after their eventful escapades with the three beauties, they feel they have got everything they longed for.
But this happiness doesn't stay longer? Because soon enters 'Lucky Bhaiiya' a.k.a. Lukhwinder Singh [Sanjay Dutt], who goes all out to make the men's lives miserable if they ever cheat on their wives! Because the message for all the women folks is conveyed in one single line: "If you have a problem with cheating saiyan, just come to Lucky Bhaiyya!"
His funda in life is clear - Be faithful to life or live in fear! Ever ready to report [and correct] what's going on in the husbands' lives, he doesn't shy away from adding his own 'namak mirchi' to make the story spicier than ever!
What happens from here on is one fun filled non-stop ride that makes for an interesting movie going experience! With Sanjay Dutt's flair for comedy widely acknowledged and David Dhawan's past record boasting of an enviable success ratio, one keenly awaits this Diwali release!
