'Sanju', the Bollywood movie, tells the unknown story of Sanjay Dutt. Ahead of its release on June 29, the movie has earned the fury of a section of sex-workers.
Those of you who have seen the trailer will know it. Sanjay Dutt (Ranbir) says that he had sexual encounters with as many as 308 women, excluding prostitutes. The National Commision for Women has been approached against this "derogatory" dialogue. The complaint is now being vetted by the Electronic Media Monitoring Centre of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
This is not the first complaint against the movie. The Rajkumar Hirani directorial has also been accused of showing barracks in jails in a bad light. "This particular scene in 'Sanju' will make a bad impression about the jails and jails authorities of the Indians," an activist recently said.
