Chennai has been playing victim to the rain's severity for the fifth consecutive day. Areas namely Mylapore, Foreshore Estate, south Thambaram, Chromepet and Pallavaram have been the worst affected.

Tragically, 8 lives have been lost in rain related accidents recently including the demise of two girls in Kondungaiyur when they were electrocuted after stepping on live electrical wire. Latest, a farmer from Thiruvarur was as well was electrocuted owing to a live wire that lay underwater in the field.

Adding to the woes, the Regional Weather Office has predicted 'heavy to very heavy' rains with thunderstorms in Chennai and  coastal districts for the next 24 hours.

While the state government is on a war footing to tackle dangers with having set up 105 relief camps, people still remain anxious over the upcoming days.
