An internal network glitch for the IT company that manages infrastructure of several airlines caused a major disruption causing many flight delays and chaos in checking in luggage. Amadeus, the Spanish-based IT company whose systems failed informed the press that the issue occurred due to a faulty network switch during regular network maintenance.

Even though the issue was quickly resolved by technicians, more than 125 airlines were impacted with problems reported across London, Paris, many airports in Europe. British Airways, Air France, KLM and Lufthansa use software from Amadeus and are said to be impacted due to this issue.
