An explosion in a factory in west Delhi’s Moti Nagar on Thursday caused the collapse of the building, which resulted in the deaths of seven people, and severe injury of eight people.
At the time of the incident, at least 18 people were present in the spot. When a portion of the factory collapsed under the impact of the blast of an LPG cylinder, seven people were killed on the spot while a few people were trapped under the debris. The owner of the factory, which is involved in painting ceiling fans, is one among the injured.
The Chief Fire Officer of Delhi Fire Services said rescue operations were hampered on Thursday night as it was dark and fire officials had to arrange for a generator in order to continue the rescue operations. The National Disaster Response Force is assisting the Fire Service with the same.
The police have registered a case against the owner of the factory under sections 287, 288, 337, and 304 of the Indian Penal Code, while the matter is under investigation.
