Captain Vijayakanth, the veteran action hero of Tamil cinema turned successful politician has been undergoing treatment due to ill health for the last few years. Its been several months since he made a public appearance and friends and fans have been concerned for him.

Vijayakanth's elder son Vijaya Prabhakaran said in a recent press interaction that there is a setback in father's health but at the same time expressed hope that he will recover soon. He also assured that the family is putting in all efforts to get the DMDK leader back to his feet.

Vijaya Prabhakaran a businessman is now taking care of the political party following in his father's footsteps. Vijayakanth's younger son Shanmughapandian is now making a comeback to films playing the lead role in two new movies.
