A coming of age peppy number is full on youthful in music and especialy the lyrical department. Goes on babbling the dream life of a College goer is very slow yet Santhosh has used his best. The techni saaavy beats are the usual you find in Santhosh’s flicks. The song should work for its lyrics and nothing else.
Gama Gama:
The underlying tune and vibe is very ordinary and you have heard it more than once, yet again the lyrics and vocals comes to the rescue. Anthony Dasan uses his mettle to bring the local flavor, its full of cooking to the roots of its nature : Dindugal Biryani, Kothu Parotta and keeps craving on Tamil Nadu’s cookery. The tune goes recursive and should do the trick with visuals.
Nirkaadhey:
Now this is Santhosh Naryanan’s innovation put to use. The song is high on a classical perspective and fuses the nativity with just enough dosage of modern day electronics and ample drumming to give a modern outlook. The lyrics are positive, the underlying rhythm is Carnatic at heart yet the fusion is a delight. The violins go berserk in the second interlude aided by strings this song is certainly the pick of the album.
Kannal Modhadhey:
Sid’s in the town and what else can one expect. Love is in the air, Santhosh grabs some strings and beats it like the tune is straight out of the blues. As good as it gets, its a fairly new attempt and gets a little too rhetoric for its nature. The bass of the song is recursive and goes on and on aiding Sid’s varying vocals. Overall Santhosh’s yet another treat.
Unave Marundhu:
Yet another Santhosh Narayanan treat, traverses completely into a different world. The Carnatic blend of Gayathri’s vocals on our traditional values and how food has been our culture, identity and ultimately the medicine could not be told better. The background hollow guitar setting keeps the check on technology and fusion. The usage of electronic arrangement to amplify the Carnatic raga is a classic touch, and boy the Mridangam amidst all the orchestration is hard not to notice.
